If you don’t have elaborate plans etched out for tonight, splurge on some lamb chops for a festive dinner that’s elegant, yet easy and fast to prepare. Although this cut of lamb isn’t cheap, it’s a dish customarily consumed on Easter Sunday, and takes next to no time to cook at all. I made it my mission to eat myself silly at Charlie Palmer’s Pigs & Pinot , but also happened to find entertaining inspiration at the same time. At one table, chef Roland Passot offered egg-cellent boiled eggs with toast soldiers. Eggshells don’t stand up easily on their own, but he served them in a large bowl filled with rock salt, star anise, and pink and white peppercorns. I loved the natural colors and unpretentious feel of the presentation - and the fact that this wouldn’t be too difficult or expensive to re-create. While searching for inspiration for my Easter Sunday cocktails slideshow , I came across a recipe for Long Island iced tea that instantly brought me back to college, when I drank them as frequently as I did water. Out flooded a waterfall of memories from my years as a young drinker, and all the beverages that reminded me of that time in my life. Everclear, Bacardi 151, Goldschlager , Jägermeister, anything with schnapps, and last - but certainly not least - jungle juice ladled out of a clean trash can and into red plastic cups. Koodies Now Have Their Own Magazine, ChopChop

With the growing number of kiddie foodies , or koodies , that have gotten press over the past year, it was only a matter of time before they got their own magazine. Meet ChopChop , a new quarterly food glossy and website that’s full of cooking pointers, recipes, and kitchen tool introductions, for kids aged 5 to 12. The vision of the magazine’s creator, cookbook author Sally Sampson, is to reverse and prevent childhood obesity; according to the website , the mag is “filled with nutritious, great-tasting, ethnically diverse, and inexpensive recipes.” The debut issue has a circulation of 150,000, and is being distributed to pediatricians, grocery stores, farmers markets, schools, children’s hospitals, and youth-based community organizations.
